ST. LAWRENCE PARKS COMMISSION AWARDS FOOD & BEVERAGE CONTRACTS The St. Lawrence Parks Commission has announced that it has awarded food and beverage contracts to two local businesses. Jessup Food & Heritage of Kingston has been awarded the contract for food and beverage services at the Garrison Restaurant at Fort Henry in Kingston. Scorpion Restaurant Inc. of Cornwall has been awarded the contract for services at the Upper Canadian Cookhouse at the Upper Canada Golf Course near Morrisburg. Both contracts will be for a five year term and were awarded following a competitive tendering process. Pat Macdonald, General Manager and CEO of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, expressed satisfaction with the process and the growth of the Commission’s food operations. “We have worked with both of these food and beverage operators very successfully in the past and we are looking forward to more collaboration in the future to continue to grow both our visitation levels and food and beverage business.” Fort Henry, part of Ontario’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a key tourism driver for the city of Kingston. It has also become a prime venue for heritage dining experiences in Kingston. The Garrison Restaurant will be open for Easter Dining on Saturday, April 11 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Sunday, April 12 from noon until 9:00 pm offering delectable menu options served by soldier servants. Fort Henry will launch their 71st season on Saturday, May 16. The Upper Canadian Cookhouse will open with the golf course operations on April 25 (weather permitting). The Cookhouse offers a high quality and diverse menu at very affordable prices. A special Mother’s Day Breakfast Buffet will be available on Sunday, May 10 from 10 am to 1 pm. Dinner specials will also be served from 4 pm till 8 pm. For the 2009 season golfers will be able to enjoy a brand new fleet of carts, plus the return of popular specials Golf & Dine and Golf, Ride & Dine. New events planned include a Ladies’ Friendly, Mixed Two Ball and Nine @ Nite. The golf course, range and dining room are all open to the public. The St. Lawrence Parks Commission is an agency of the Government of Ontario and operates facilities in 16 municipalities stretching from Kingston to the Quebec border, including Upper Canada Village, Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada, Crysler Park Marina, Upper Canada Golf Course, Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and 12 campgrounds and day-use areas including the Long Sault and 1000 Islands Parkways. Fort Henry is located in Kingston and the Upper Canadian Cookhouse is adjacent to Upper Canada Golf Course in Morrisburg, ideally situated just 45 minutes south of Ottawa, 90 minutes east of Kingston, and 90 minutes west of Montreal.
