KINGSTON, Ontario – What would it be like to travel through time back to 1867? Find out this summer at Fort Henry’s re-imagined Sunset Ceremonies running Wednesday evenings in July and August.
It’s the year of Canada’s confederation and the Fort Henry Guard are preparing for battle when suddenly the enemy approaches! Action ensues, the cannons are loaded and the volley begins. The ferociously brave Fort Henry Guard are victorious and once again have ensured the country-to-be will not fall.
The Fort Henry Guard Drums, Drill and Artillery are main features of the show and present a taste of 1860s military music, drills, exciting artillery manoeuvres and beautiful vocal performances. All are experienced through the compelling story of a young man who hopes to one day join the Guard. See how the main characters learn to appreciate the changes and advances that have been made over the last 150 years. Everyone will experience Fort Henry’s history and the culture, commitment and pride that drives the modern day Guard in a style that is engaging for all audiences.
Sunset Ceremonies are performed on Wednesday evenings during July (5, 12, 19 & 26) and August (2, 9, 16, 23 & 30) with pre-show entertainment by the Kings Town Players beginning at 7:15 p.m. Recognized eleven times as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Events by Festivals and Events Ontario, the World Famous Sunset Ceremonies is a show unlike any other in Canada.
