SOUTH EASTERN ONTARIO'S BIGGEST WINTER LIGHT FESTIVAL OPENS AT UPPER CANADA VILLAGE NOVEMBER 30, 2018

Morrisburg, Ontario – The Alight at Night festival, one of Ontario’s premiere winter events at historic Upper Canada Village opens on November 30, 2018.  A million lights transform this 60-acre heritage site into a magical winter wonderland that you can explore by foot, horse-drawn wagon or romantic carriage ride.  This year, the festival is open Thursday to Sunday nights from Friday, November 30 to December 23; closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and is open nightly from December 26 to January 5, 2019.  Complete festival details can be found at www.AlightatNight.ca or by calling the Customer Service Unit at 613-543-4328 or 800-437-2233.

Alight at Night pricing offers an all-inclusive experience.  One admission price provides entry to Upper Canada Village, horse-drawn wagon ride, Toy Train ride, Saint Nick’s Merry Mansion (until December 23), Carousel Corner, singing at Christ Church and a visit to the Bakery.  Adult (13+) $16; Youth (5-12 yrs.) $12.00 and children 4 years and younger are free.  Advance ticket purchase, particularly during the holidays, is strongly recommended to speed entry into the festival.

NEW FOR 2018:  CAROUSEL CORNER New this year is Carousel Corner, set in the Village fairgrounds featuring a colourful vintage 1965 merry-go-round of 20 prancing horses offering rides for young visitors* throughout Alight at Night.  For a keepsake photo, two additional life-size reproduction carousel horses are available especially for picture-taking in a booth nearby.  More memories can be captured in a special festival portrait frame, and couples can cuddle for a kiss on a Mistletoe loveseat.  Stop by the outdoor Carousel Corner Café to grab a hot beverage and warm up in one of the new holiday huts.

*Note:  Carousel rides are for visitors under 100 lbs in weight.  Parents or other guardians can stand alongside the horses their children will ride upon.  Riders must be 36” tall or be accompanied by an adult.

Families with youngsters should plan to drop by Alight at Night early in December to experience the ultimate Santa visit at Saint Nick’s Merry Mansion (Crysler Hall).  Alight at Night’s Victorian Saint Nick will be on site to hear Christmas wishes in his festively decorated holiday mansion until December 23.
