HORSE LOVERS' WEEKEND SEPTMEBER 3-5


Morrisburg, Ontario – Horse lovers will have reason to celebrate at Upper Canada Village over Labour Day weekend (September 3-5, 2016) at the Horse Lovers’ weekend event.  This special Labour Day weekend event features three action-packed days showcasing riding, driving and working horses.  Natural horsemanship demonstrations and a mock 1860s horse auction are all part of the weekend’s activities.  It is a great opportunity to watch, learn and improve your understanding of all things equine, with demonstrations and performances by notable horse experts.
 
Farrah Green, a renowned 3 Star Parelli Horse Specialist with an extensive background as both a rider and teacher will share her knowledge about how to communicate more effectively with horses and will give multiple performances and demonstrations throughout the weekend.  Joining Green will be Gary Meek and the team from Drogheda Manor in Lunenburg, Ontario.  This team will demonstrate the principles of natural horsemanship in an educational and entertaining presentation that is fun for the whole family.  You will never look at horses in the same way again!

11:30 a.m.            Become a Horse Whisperer!  Special workshop provided by Garry Meek, Drogheda Manor (Fairground) 
12 noon - 1:00 p.m.    Musical Entertainment - MacLeod Fiddlers (Saturday), Phil & Caroline Hosick (Sunday), The Tilton Family (Monday) (Cooks Tavern)

Upper Canada Village will proudly feature their Canadian horses and introduce two of their new Canadian foals.  Demonstrations will take place at Ross Farm showing a Drag Saw operation and at Loucks Farm featuring the horse powered threshing machine.  Visitors can enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride around Upper Canada Village (9:30 a.m. to noon; 2:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m) and horse-drawn Tow Scow ride (9:30 a.m. to noon; 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) along the canal all included in Upper Canada Village admission.
 
Special musical performances by MacLeod Fiddlers at noon on Saturday and by Phil and Caroline Hosick on Sunday will keep audiences entertained.   Upper Canada Village’s own Travelling Tiltons will perform their comedic entertainment all three days.  Performances take place at Cook’s Tavern or in the Fairgrounds.
