Over a dozen new exhibits and more family fun!

Morrisburg, Ontario – Upper Canada Village’s award-winning fall event Pumpkinferno will enchant visitors once again this fall with the addition of more than a dozen new themed exhibits.  Open Thursday through Sunday and Thanksgiving Monday starting Friday, September 30, until October 30, 2016.  Visit www.Pumpkinferno.com for exact dates and times and to purchase advance tickets.
Recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Events, Pumpkinferno is a unique blend of artistry, imagination and ingenuity featuring thirty exhibits created from 7,000 intricately hand-crafted artificial pumpkins lit against the night sky and backdrop of Upper Canada Village.  Highlights of the new exhibits this fall: Dragon’s Lantern Lair, Jailhouse Rock featuring 1950s pop icons including Elvis and Marilyn Monroe; Art Museum with recreated works of art from some of the world’s greatest painters including Mona Lisa and American Gothic; Upper Canada Village People with the Baker, Cheesemaker, Spinner and more; a colourful Dia de los Muertos (Mexican celebration Day of the Dead); and Legends from our Lands.  The Pumpkinferno artists have added new artistic techniques to make the new exhibits come alive like never before.
The success of the interactive zone in Pumpkin Park has been expanded with new activities including a Shadow Screen, Pumpkin Hopscotch and Pumpkin Toss.  It is the perfect place for families to stop for a break.  Café Inferno, the giant ‘pumpkin shell-ter’ will offer free WIFI so you can stop for a Bewitching Beverage and a Deadly Dessert and post to social media.  Pumpkin Park will also feature a special Painted Pumpkin Art Gallery featuring the artwork of hundreds of local schoolchildren from Kindergarten to Grade 9 from the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.  Other activities will include a Pumpkin Doodle chalkboard where families are encouraged to create their own doodle or artwork.  The Pumpkin Perfect Portraits area will feature some past Pumpkinerno characters and is an ideal stop for photos.  Youngsters and the young at heart can stop by a display to measure how tall they are … in pumpkins!
The evening of Wednesday, October 12 is set aside exclusively to accommodate groups of people with accessibility needs.  Guests can ride in their own vehicles to view Pumpkinferno. Only accessibility vans or parabuses will be allowed; coaches and school buses cannot be accommodated.  Upper Canada Village will provide a staff person familiar with the Village roadways in the dark to lead the vehicles through the site.  Admission to tour on this night is $14 per person (plus HST).  Reservations are required and may be made by calling Customer Service at 613-543-4328 or 800-437-2233.
