Upper Canada Village is Ready to Welcome Back Guests on June 17th

As part of the government’s recent move into Step One of its Roadmap to Reopen Ontario plan, St. Lawrence Parks Commission is pleased to announce the opening of its historic site Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, Ontario on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 with modified programming. To comply with public health measures, advice and restrictions, Upper Canada Village will be offering outdoor walking tours of the Village in Step One.

As part of the government’s recent move into Step One of its Roadmap to Reopen Ontario plan, St. Lawrence Parks Commission is pleased to announce the opening of its historic site, Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario on Saturday, June 19th, 2021. To comply with public health measures, advice and restrictions, Fort Henry will be offering modified outdoor programming in Step One.

As part of the government’s move into Step One of its Roadmap to Reopen Ontario plan, St. Lawrence Parks Commission , in partnership with Correctional Service of Canada , is pleased to announce the reopening of Kingston Pen Tours for its sixth season beginning Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. To comply with public health measures, advice and restrictions, Kingston Pen will be offering limited outdoor guided tours in Step One.

When Mille Roches campground re-opens this season, St. Lawrence Parks Commission staff will be opening the gates to welcome guests back – literally. One of SLPC’s 2020-21 capital projects was to install gates at campgrounds in response to customer feedback and a gap analysis on security.

The Start of a Trail Alliance for the Thousand Islands Parkway Recreational Trail

St. Lawrence Parks Commission in partnership with the Ontario Trails Council, Front of Yonge Township and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands have proposed a coordinated approach to resolve the challenges encountered with the plowing of the multi-use recreational trail along the Thousand Islands Parkway. Through a shared vision for the trail, the goal is to identify a solution for winter 2021 that allows for the safe use of the trail and better user experience for all users.

St. Lawrence Parks Commission has awarded a contract to MDB Insight Inc. for the development of a 5-year strategic plan and 10-year roadmap. MDB is an experienced and respected consulting firm that will be involved throughout the strategic plan's development process including all stakeholder engagement as well as public consultation aspects of the project.

Fort Henry Welcomes New Honorary Guard Commander

Distinguished Canadian, Major-General Lewis MacKenzie, CM, CMM, OOnt, MSC, CD (Retired) is set to carry on a long-standing tradition by becoming the official representative to Fort Henry National Historic Site as its new Honorary Guard Commander this month, with a farewell to the Honourable Hugh D. Segal, OC, OOnt, CD, Fort Henry Guard #4, who has held the position since 2006.
