Fort Henry & Upper Canada Village Receive TOP 100 Event Honours

FEO recognizes Sunset Ceremonies, Pumpkinferno and Alight at Night

Morrisburg, Ontario – The St. Lawrence Parks Commission hit a triple Friday night with three of their events honoured in Festival & Events Ontario’s Top 100 Events in Ontario for 2015.  Fort Henry’s iconic World Heritage Sunset Ceremonies and Upper Canada Village’s creative Pumpkinferno and family holiday favourite Alight at Night were recognized by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) at their annual conference in Niagara Falls, ON.  The Top 100 Festivals & Events Program acknowledges excellence within the industry. 

Fort Henry’s Sunset Ceremonies,honoured for the tenth time are performed Wednesday nights during July and August.  The high energy performance of the Fort Henry Guard is complemented by a 2.5D multi-dimensional video projection that animates the Sunset Ceremonies with a series of battle scenes in a way that complements the performance of the Fort Henry Guard in a way never seen before. 

Upper Canada Village’s Pumpkinferno is an enchanting tour through artistic displays that showcase over 6,0000 intricately carved exhibits made from artificial pumpkins.  Exhibits ranging from the Evolution of the Ford Car featuring life size carved vehicles to The Animals of Noah’s Ark amaze guests with their creativity.  Pumpkinferno is open on select nights (Thursday to Sunday) from October 1 to November 1.

Upper Canada Village’s winter festival Alight at Night, recognized for the fifth year transforms the Village into a spectacular winter wonderland with over one million lights on the buildings, fences and trees.  A holiday tradition for families, Alight at Night will be open on select nights from December 4 to January 2, 2016.

Upper Canada Village will open for the 2015 season on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.  Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada will open its main season on Saturday, May 16, 2015.
