Morrisburg, Ontario – Upper Canada Village’s award-winning fall event Pumpkinferno returns this fall with the addition of exhibits depicting rich heritage and cultural themes from across the nation in a celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. Pumpkinferno opens on Friday, September 29 and is open select nights Thursday through Sunday and Thanksgiving Monday, until October 29, 2017. Visit www.Pumpkinferno.com for exact dates and times and to purchase tickets.

Recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Events, Pumpkinferno is a night time walking tour of more than 30 different hand-carved spellbinding exhibits, made from pumpkins.  While many depict surreal, mythological or exotic worldly themes, other exhibits showcase heritage-based themes specifically designed to reflect the local region.

Celebrating Canada 150 in 2017, where the entire country is commemorating the birth of our nation, Pumpkinferno will unveil new exhibits that will pay tribute to our Canadian culture.  Wander through Our Nation’s Nature and experience from coast to coast the firs, feathers and flowers representing the symbols of Canada’s territories and provinces.  Step into the 17th century and see The Fur Trade come to life in a fur trading transaction or follow the Northern Lights toward a snowy Canadian Arctic night with an Inukshuk, life-size Polar bears and more in The Great White North, all artistically brought to life in carved pumpkin exhibits.  And don’t miss Patriotic Pastimes featuring Canada’s most iconic and beloved sports!

Pumpkin Park is the perfect stopping places for families to take a break, snap and post images using the free WIFI or enjoy a Bewitching Beverage and a Deadly Dessert at Café Inferno.  Children can have fun at the Shadow Scream, Pumpkin Hopscotch and Pumpkin Toss.  Pumpkin Park also features a special Painted Pumpkin Art Gallery with the artwork of hundreds of local schoolchildren.

Pumpkinferno is full of great photo opportunities.  Share your family photo at Pumpkinferno for a chance to win a custom Pumpkinferno exhibit for your home!

The evening of Wednesday, October 11 is set aside exclusively to accommodate groups of people with accessibility needs.  Guests can ride in their own vehicles to view Pumpkinferno. Only accessibility vans or parabuses will be allowed; coaches and school buses cannot be accommodated.  Upper Canada Village will provide a staff person familiar with the Village roadways in the dark to lead the vehicles through the site.  Admission to tour on this night is $14.00 per person (plus HST). Reservations are required and may be made by calling Customer Service at 613-543-4328 or 800-437-2233.
