Kingston’s most challenging 5K obstacle course race returns with new ways for racers ages 13+ to push their limits
Kingston, Ontario – The St. Lawrence Parks Commission (SLPC) invites racers to rise up and CRUSH IT as Cannonball Crush, Kingston’s most challenging 5-kilometre obstacle course race, returns to the historic grounds of Fort Henry in 2026. Presented by Subaru of Kingston, the high-energy event on June 13 will once again push competitors to their limits with more than 20 modern and historically themed obstacles set against one of Canada’s most iconic National Historic Sites.
Cannonball Crush challenges participants to storm Fort Henry through a demanding 5 km course featuring climbs, crawls, jumps, slides and strength-based obstacles that test endurance, determination, and teamwork. The race is timed, but racers are encouraged to go at their own pace, making it accessible for both seasoned competitors and first-time racers. Only those who crush these challenges and cross the finish line can claim to have conquered the Fort!
Designed for all fitness levels and participants ages 13 and up, Cannonball Crush offers a variety of race heats, including an adults-only heat, a teens-only heat and, new for 2026, a family-friendly open heat for all ages 13+. Teens will tackle the same course as adult racers, giving younger competitors the full Cannonball Crush experience. Adult racers receive complimentary admission to YGK Craft Beer Fest, and teen runners receive a free return admission ticket to Fort Henry, valid for historic programming on any day from May to September.
The race will take place Saturday, June 13, 2026, in advance of YGK Craft Beer Fest, where Cannonball Crush vanquishers receive complimentary admission as part of their registration. Racers can compete alone or form a team, facing this year’s new obstacles and returning favourites, such as the giant Slip ‘n Slide and the Cannon Pull. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to cheer on racers at the start and finish lines, adding to the electric atmosphere as participants battle their way to the finish.
Whether racing for a personal best, tackling obstacles with teammates, or simply looking for an unforgettable challenge, early registration is strongly encouraged, as spots are limited and the event sells out quickly. Early bird registration for Cannonball Crush 2026 opens today, February 11, and runs until March 31, 2026, offering racers the best price to secure their spot on the starting line. Regular pricing will be available from April 1 to May 29, 2026. Registration will not be available on the day of the event.

About Fort Henry
Fort Henry was built between 1832 and 1837, designed as the key site in a network of fortifications for the defense of the Rideau Canal and the Kingston harbour. British soldiers were garrisoned there until 1870, followed by Canadian troops until 1891. In 1936, the Fort underwent restoration and opened as a living history museum in 1938. Now a National Historic Site, Fort Henry has seen millions of visitors pass through its gates, entering the realm of 19th century military life. Guests experience self-guided tours, scenic views, heart-pounding musical performances and precision military demonstrations by the Fort Henry Guard, a highly disciplined group of student recruits trained as British soldiers from 1867.
