JUNE 2023 UPDATE

Last month, Brown’s Bay Beach & Picnic Area opened to guests and the local community, with some restrictions in place as construction goes through its final phases. Since opening, guests have enjoyed swimming, picnicking, and access to the boat ramp and playground near the new perched beach area. Two new barrier-free ramp entrances to the water are available for use. Temporary washroom facilities are in place while the building nears completion.

Inside the building today, masonry work is nearly complete, HVAC ductwork has been routed and ceiling framing has been installed throughout. All plumbing rough-ins are complete and the central drinking fountain has been installed. The design of the water treatment system has now been completed and work is progressing. On-site, the well trench line has been completed, including to the overnight campsites within the park.

Outside, concrete has been poured for the three benches that will surround the building, and concrete for the deck is being poured this month. Exterior LED lighting will be added to the patio once this is complete.

The exterior waterproofing is complete, in preparation for the natural wood cedar siding to follow, which is starting to arrive on site.

Regular updates will continue to be provided on the revitalization project. We look forward to resuming full operations and to celebrating Brown’s Bay’s transformation with the community in August.
