With flowers starting to bloom, sunny weather approaching, and birds singing, it is the perfect time of year to take a leisurely stroll through Upper Canada Village’s heritage buildings, winding roads and what life was like in the spring of the 1860’s all while taking advantage of our spring general admission promotion. Between April 2, 2024, to May 3, 2024, each purchased general admission ticket is eligible for a free general admission ticket for visits during the spring season, May 4, 2024, to June 16, 2024.
Here are a few reasons to visit Upper Canada Village this Spring:
- The gardens are starting to sprout. Visit the vegetable and flower gardens at Louck’s Farm, and the other heirloom gardens at Roberston Home and Crysler Hall! Our flower gardens will be bursting with colour in spring with dahlias, marigolds, begonias, and more!
- Personalized experiences with our historical interpreters. With lighter crowds in the spring season, a spring visit allows more time for guests to interact with staff and historical interpreters one-on-one. Ask questions about those flower or vegetable gardens or get an up-close look at the cheese-making process or the bread baking. Each Villager uses unique skills to contribute to daily life in the 1860s and is happy to chat with guests.
- Celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Day. Celebrate the special people in your life this Mother’s Day, May 19, and Father’s Day, June 16, as mothers and fathers receive free admission on their special day, combine the day with our spring BOGO promotion for even more savings.
- Spring animal highlights. Only in the springtime will you find so many baby animals throughout the Village. We are expecting piglets and calves at both Louck’s Farm and Tenant Farm. Once the calves are born, there will be hand milking every afternoon. Be sure to keep an eye out for our lambs, they are in different locations around the Village. Visit between May 31 to June 2 and learn about sheep shearing as the farm staff shear the Village flock by hand.
- Increased availability for overnight accommodation. With greater availability in the spring, you can pick the perfect time to stay at The Guest House or Montgomery House. Known for being places of serenity, experience peak serenity at these accommodations in spring with birds chirping, a warm breeze, and evidence of nature’s renewal all around. The BOGO admission promotion also applies to admission tickets with reservations.
- A Village for every season. Adding a spring visit to your usual summer visit highlights the seasonal life of the Village. The flowers grow and bloom, the vegetable gardens and hay fields transform from seed to crop to harvest, and baby animals become grown working members of the farm team. To everything there is a season, and spring is one not to miss at Upper Canada Village.
About Upper Canada Village
Depicting life in a rural Canadian setting during the year 1866, Upper Canada Village is one of the largest living-history museums in Canada. It was founded in 1961 and features more than 40 historic buildings, many of which were moved to the Village from the “Lost Villages” to preserve them prior to the flooding for the St. Lawrence Seaway development project. Talented historical interpreters bring these buildings to life every day, recreating traditional trades, farming, music and 19th century social life – creating an immersive guest experience that makes every visit to the Village different from the last.
